Aki belongs to the Iwami family, an outcast warrior family. She is a bright, lively, and good-natured girl who acts as a normal student compared to Yui and her friends. She doesn't pay attention to her status as a member of a warrior family and her behavior at school is noticeably imprudent, which bothers Yui. Regardless, she has a strong competitive spirit and is a hard worker. She's a competitive person, because of her rivalry with her twin brother. Among her friends, Aki is the most outgoing and active of the group, and often teases Izumi about her relationship with her boyfriend.

At Yamayuri Girls' Eishi Training School in Kyoto, Izumi's initial performance as a pilot was sub-par. Despite that, she persevered, and was eventually placed in the same trainee unit as Yui, Noto Izumi, Yamashiro Kazusa and Kai Shimako. In the pursuit of strength, she becomes obsessed with the "Eight minutes of death" and surpassing her brother.
