A hopeless romantic taken to extremes, Mayu is a cutesy ex-lolita model who quit her previous job on a whim after what she thought to be a "fated encounter" with the Producer. Mayu believes that the red string of fate ties them together, and thus strives to become his finest idol so they won't have to spend a second apart, outright admitting to not having any interest in idoling itself. While she may act quite normal whenever the Producer is not around, as soon as he enters the room, all of her attention instantly shifts to him.

Because she is a spin on a yandere-type character, although ultimately harmless, Mayu is shown to exhibit behavior commonly associated with the trope, most notably slipping into eerie dark-eyed chanting whenever she doubts Producer's loyalty, keeping a diary dedicated entirely to him and their future plans, or secretly following him around his daily commute. Some more meta references include the [Only Your Cupid] tie-in theater skit, where she jokingly confesses to murder while doing the Shaft head tilt, and her Go Just Go! special appeal, which resembles Yuno Gasai's infamous yandere pose. It is implied that she was an ordinary girl before she first met the Producer.

Despite the aforementioned, she is shown to be on good terms with other idols, particularly befriending Hinako, a fellow daydreamer that shares the same feelings towards the Producer.
