Rose to prominence by directing Shin Seiki GPX Cyber Formula which won the Animage Anime Grand Prix award.
Fukuda also directed two more Anime Grand Prix award winners - Gundam SEED and Gundam SEED Destiny. With Gundam SEED, Fukuda managed to revive the popularity of Gundam after the commercial failures of Gundam X and Turn A Gundam, which is mostly observed by the selling power of Gundam model kits and toys that Bandai sells.
