A Japanese manga artist. He is most notable for having created Yu Yu Hakusho, for which he received the Shogakukan Manga Award in 1994, and Hunter × Hunter. In 1987, Togashi received the 34th Tezuka Award, the most influential new comic artist award in Japan, for his one-shot Buttobi Straight.
Togashi is married to Naoko Takeuchi, the creator of Sailor Moon. His brother, Hideaki Togashi, is also a manga artist and has helped him work on his series on multiple occasions.
Since 2006, Hunter x Hunter has gone on numerous lengthy hiatuses due to varying reasons, Including but not limited to: Togashi's struggle with Lumbago, exhaustion, and his mental health. His physical and mental health was also a leading cause in the premature conclusion of Yu Yu Hakusho.
