Multi-talented freelance artist who specialized in depicting nature, such as clouds and waves.

After graduating from high school, he joined Toei Animation, and worked under Keiichirou Kimura. Later joined Madhouse and was one of the studio's leading animators during its early days together with Akio Sugino and Yoshiaki Kawajiri.
